Root canal therapy

The aim of a root canal treatment is to remove everything that is inside the root canal and to clean and decontaminates the hollow area. Then, the tooth is filled with a rubber-like material, using an adhesive cement to seal the canals completely. By using the following tools this treatment is very effective:

• a dental dam
• an op-microscope for an optical magnification
• the use of mechanical nickel-titan tools
• electrical root canal length measurement
• use of additional medical, disinfectant rinsing solutions
• sealing of the canals with a bio ceramic sealer

Quite often an old root canal filling must be removed because of a chronical inflammation at the root tip or improper filling. This measure - the so called root canal retreatment – is very complex. Besides having appropriate qualifications it can only be managed by using a microscope.
